UTA appoints Ander Nickell as esports Brand Partnerships Executive

Global talent and entertainment agency UTA has appointed Ander Nickell as its esports division’s new Brand Partnerships Executive.

According to the release, Nickell will focus on building innovative brand partnerships for the company’s growing roster of esports athletes and content creators. He will be based in Los Angeles.

Bringing over 15 years of experience, Nickell recently served as the Head of Global Partnerships at Activision, where he oversaw collaborations for titles such as Call of Duty, Warzone, Tony Hawk, and Crash Bandicoot. 

During his tenure, Nickell secured multi-year partnerships with global brands such as Pepsi, Sony, Comcast, Kellogg’s, Nvidia and Papa John’s.

Damon Lau, Head of Esports at UTA commented: “Ander has a unique talent for establishing authentic connections at the intersection of gaming, entertainment and consumer brands.

“He has firsthand knowledge of the world’s most prominent gaming franchises, and he is well-respected within the esports and marketing industries.”

Prior to Activision, Nickell worked as a Director of Client Development at GMR Marketing. Moreover,  he began his career at IMG.

Ander Nickell, Esports Brand Partnerships Executive commented on his new venture: “I’ve watched UTA build an unmatched roster of incredibly talented creators, and a team of the industry’s top esports agents and executives.

Esports Insider Says: UTA’s esports division represents some of the most-followed talent in the gaming landscape, so to see them add a well-respected partnerships executive in the industry, comes as no surprise. Nickell will make a fine addition to the team.
